Abu Dhabi: Graduating students from an Abu Dhabi-based university will showcase the fruit of years of developing creativity at an art gallery this week, as a send-off into the real world.
Fourteen applied media graduates from the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) Abu Dhabi Women's College (ADWC) will host and exhibit artworks at Desert Rose 2007, which will be held at the Ghaf Art Gallery.
"This is the sixth time that we put on the Desert Rose exhibition," said Cordula Peters, Professor at the Graphic Design Faculty at the HCT ADWC.
"We've held it at the college and at a mall previously, but this year we wanted more exposure for the students and their work. It's an excellent setting and the girls are very excited about it." Zeinab Al Hammadi, a soon-to-be-HCT graduate, specialises in graphic design, and will exhibit seven pieces at Desert Rose. "We're so proud of ourselves that we are able to exhibit at an art gallery," she says.
The exhibition will showcase designs, photographs, short films, commercials, three dimensional pieces and class projects which students have worked on in the past three years.
Desert Rose 2007 opens today and runs until June 13.
